I have been a member of Toluna for quite sometime, and since then, I have always been a bit skeptical of their business, until now!
But before I get started, I believe an explanation is in order. I quote this from their "About Us" page, "Toluna is an online community dedicated to making your voice heard! Tell the world's leading providers of products and services what you think and earn rewards by participating in surveys. You can also express your thoughts through polls and opinions you create directly on Toluna! Let other people know what you think, and find out if people think the same as you. Polls and opinions you create on Toluna can also be included in your own personal blog or website. Every service that our site offers is free of charge, and for participation in many Toluna activities you will be awarded points."
Now, earning points is what helped me out here, you do that by making polls, doing surveys, and other tasks around the site. If your polls attract a lot of attention for users on the site, you may be asked to become a staff member on their site, and your job would be to make polls and other related topics on the daily, or make many every week, and moderate other people's polls for quality, spam, or anything that violates the rules.
Once you earn lots of points, you can redeem them for several things, gift cards, money sweepstakes, or what I just done, a check.
That's right, Toluna has actually sent me a check! The only downside is that, instead of it taking two to three weeks to send it out, which is what it tells you when you view this option on their site, the fine print does tell you that it can take up to eight weeks, in their FAQ section, and the one they sent out took them seven weeks to get to doing so, and got it in the mail just two days after they made the check out.
Also, it took some time to save up the points to get a check, but I haven't been doing too much on the site, other than making polls and other topic-related things, but I'm sure if you sign up and do surveys and Toluna's tasks around the site as well on a regular basis, you can get more quick and redeem much more checks!
Just remember, it'll take a lot longer than just two to three weeks!
